Returned to San Diego November 1973
Drum's first WESTPAC deployment was the longest, 8 months. Deployment extended due to the heightened international tensions caused by the Arab-Israel Yom Kippur War in October 1973. Drum crewmen returned home to find gas lines and rationing.
